Born in Schladming (Styria) in 1964, Degree in History (major) with minor made up of subject combination (political science, modern history, feminist studies) at the University of Salzburg and University of Vienna, graduation with honours in 1990. Doctorate studies in History at the University of Vienna, graduation with honours in 1998. Habilitation at the University of Vienna 2001, entitled to teach Modern History. Employed in various positions from August 1992 until April 2019 (scientific research assistant, dep. assistant, university assistant, assistant professor, associate professor) at the Institute for History at the University of Vienna. Professor at the same institute since April 1, 2019. Guest Professor (Spring Term 2002 and Fall Term 2002) at the History Department of Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.
